..... from a friend of a friend. The skis are Rossignol and the boots are Nordica. They are both a good 10 years old if not more. How dependable are these brands and how long do they last? Since they are so old, is there anything I need to do to them to make my skiing more enjoyable?
Thanks!
I Recently Received a Pair of Second Hand Skis....?
If you are a beginner, then these will work fine. They are both dependable brands. I would take them to a ski shop and see if they will tune them up and wax them. That will help a bunch. Also, have someone who knows about skiing check the boots and make sure them fit your feet, otherwise you will be miserable. I have the same skis that are now probably five years old and my pair before that were used and I skied them for a good seven years after I got them.
Reply:Ski and boot technology has progressed alot in 10 years.
If you are serious about skiing, would suggest going to a ski swap and outfitting yourself with more current gear. Skis are expensive, but at swaps you can get good used skis for less than half the price of new. There are lots of experienced skiers there to help you out. It would be much easier to ski on shaped skis and your feet will thank you for getting newer boots.
Reply:You should get rid of these and get newer skis (the boots may be okay).
